Learning to Drive

Silver Birch Press is doing a series on learning to drive. I had tried different several times in my life to write about some advice my dad gave me when he taught me to drive, but it never worked itself into a coherent piece. When I heard about Silver Birch's call for submissions on the topic, I gave it another shot. What do you think of my poem 'Driving Lesson'?

I love the lines, "my father having held on
to my childhood and his money for as long as he could"

Great poem!
I love Silver Birch Press...

I suppose I have an advantage of clearly seeing those 4 sisters squinting and lined up, but I love it. And questions...! :)

Hey, Carole! My father has four sisters, which were who I was thinking of, but your comment has me rethinking the whole sister thing. My dad had no dad (or a string of stepfathers) and four sisters and a mother, and then a wife, and seven daughters, and my brother. A friend of mine who believes in reincarnations said, Wow, he is really being schooled in women. If he doesn't get it right, next life he'll be a woman so he can.
