Tripping the Light Ekphrastic

A few months ago I wrote about Black Tongue, a journal that pairs artists and poets in a collaboration of ekphrasis.

I've now run across another journal with a similar mission of pairing poets and artists to respond to one another's work. This one is called The Light Ekphrastic.

I may find more of these interesting projects, and if I do, I'll post about them.

I love when these kinds of pairings push me to come up with something new, but I also hate the pressure!

When I'm just writing for myself, it's easy to crumple it up and throw it away if it turns out to be garbage, without the added guilt of letting someone down.

Right now I am working on a piece because a local art center wanted me to write something to accompany a certain painting for an upcoming exhibit. I'm used to disappointing myself, but it's added motivation to try to avoid disappointing other people!

Shawte,

What a good point. I've never collaborated with anyone (never finished, am in the process now), but the disappointing of others has been in the back of my mind. Thanks for bringing it front and center for consideration by us all!

And what a positive spin you put on it -- motivation (as well as pressure).
